The weather feels more like winter than spring. But this should not deter you from planning your next great Canadian getaway, whatever the season is. So what is Kubo Magazine’s suggestion? Let’s take it up a notch. It’s time to plan for a great Canadian adventure!
RIDE THE WAVES IN TOFINO, BC
Tofino has attracted surfers from all over the world. It is located on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. A surf camp is recommended for novice surfers but for the experienced, catch the biggest and wildest waves during the winter. Or, just take in the gorgeous mountain views as you stroll on the beach. The town has plenty to offer for the entire family.
DRIVE THE ALASKA HIGHWAY THROUGH NORTHERN BC AND YUKON
Drive about 2,000 kilometers through northern British Columbia, up to the Yukon and over to Delta Junction, Alaska. Admire the mountain ranges that watch over the highway and perhaps catch a glimpse of wildlife along the way.
ICEBERG HUNTING OR PUFFIN WATCHING IN NEWFOUNDLAND
The iceberg alley stretches from the coast of Labrador to the northeast coast of Newfoundland. These giants appear along the coast as early as May. Take a boat trip or even kayak among the giants. Get up close while the Titanic soundtrack echoes in your ears. But if that is too extreme for you, you can watch from the island. Better yet, go puffin watching. These adorable seabirds
return to Gull Island to breed each spring.
DARE TO HANG OUT AT TORONTO’S CN TOWER
Face your fear of heights as you literally hang out at the edge of the tower. While harnessed with safety cables and at 1,168 feet above the streets of Toronto, CN Tower’s Edgewalk will take you to a panoramic view of the city on a whole other level.
WALK THE OCEAN FLOOR IN HOPEWELL CAPE, NB
During low tides, the water flows out to allow you to walk on the seafloor and explore 2 km of coves and check out the stunning tree-topped sandstone rock formations.
